Updates galore.

Hi all,

This has been a long time coming. FromSoftFanatics is currently in the process of undergoing it’s largest redesign since the site first launched back in 2014 (however, our oldest article is from 2015 - due to data loss, in which we also lost old comments too).

The inception of the website has remained true since it’s launch, which was focused on FromSoftware’s titles, with a focus on their most recent content. The site was consistent with updates, articles, and even housed two walkthroughs, however as time went on I became busier with my academics and general work-life balance. I actually missed quite a bit of content, such as updates to Sekiro, Elden Ring news, Metal Wolf Chaos releasing, and much more…In fact, I hadn’t even posted much about Elden Ring! It’s apparent that I have missed a lot, and it’s crazy now that Elden Ring has released (with a big expansion coming its way), as well as a new Armored Core game!

Fortunately, things are going really well and I am finding more free time than usual! So, I’d like to dedicate more time to updating this site. Over the span of the last several days, FromSoftFanatics has seen:

• A new design and identity - Gone is the bright white and less dynamic theme.
• A new host - technically, We had moved hosts and domain providers back in 2022.
• Discord integration - I love forums. I yonder back to the days of Invision Power Boards. However, the cost for this software has gone up exponentially, and with forums in decline due to Discord and Reddit popularity, we have decided to move onto Discord.
• Weekly polls - Polls are now changed weekly, and I encourage you to try them out.
• Updated navigation - The menu bar now consists of FromSoftware’s most recent, upcoming, and popular releases. It would be quite the task to include each of their titles on this navigation bar (and quite ugly), so hence this will be limited.
• 2FA authentication - This was a priority. Over the drought of content, our webpage had a lot of spam user registration. I wanted to address this as well as add some security to the site. For the current time being, 2FA is needed for each login.
• “All Games” Page - Currently a work in progress, but I have had this idea for some time. This page will include the titles of each of their games, links where to buy, and general FAQ information. This page is destined to become quite large, and will take me time to complete. Please be patient.
• “Expansion x” Pages - Each game on the navigational bar has pages for their downloadable content. These are also a work in progress. This also includes the Free Update to Sekiro, as well as the upcoming Shadows of the Erdtree expansion to Elden Ring..
• Walkthrough pages - The walkthrough pages are now under their respective games. Do note, I have only created walkthroughs for Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne (they are only under these menus). I have promised over time that I would make a walkthrough for other games, but given the amount of walkthroughs that are already out there, this is less likely.
• Character planners and soul level calculators - These have been added to each game on the navigation bar. Do note, these are not mine, but rather external links to trusted and popular calculators. They’re great! Credit to their respective authors.
• Article pages - Each game in the navigational menu bars have a tab named Articles. If you click these for a certain game, you will see every article for each game. When looking this over, I noticed how much Bloodborne content I had written…and how little Dark Souls 2 content I had written.
• SSL certificates - These were renewed.
• Commenting system (with GIPHY) - We have embedded a much better system for user comments. GIPHY is supported, so give it a fun whirl. NOTE: To avoid bot spam, guests cannot comment.
• Much more under the hood. 🙂

Additionally, I will be working on more features. However, the main concern is to address the pages currently in development. However, you will also be able to look forward to:

• Pages for INT & FAITH Sorceries, Arcane spells, Incantations, etc. for each game.
• Fleshed out user-customization.
• Additional videos showcasing portable versions of the games running on the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck.
• Web reviews.
• Any additional game news, patch information, and rumors that are credible will be posted.
